Lotus Visual Productions provides a medium for performance artists and filmmakers via sponsorships, grants, and production opportunities to express their creativity towards generating vibrant and dynamic conversations.
We strongly believe in the power of our creative projects to foster better understanding and bridge-building between communities while encouraging aspiring filmmakers and artists to bring their creative vision to reality, pushing the envelope on social taboos and acceptance.
We focus on bringing stories of the South Asian lgbt+ community worldwide to the screen via a broad array of projects ranging from feature films, feature-length documentaries, short films, short docs, and social media projects. With active projects in various stages of production in India and the UK, we strive for a robust and authentic representation of lgbt+ experiences on screen and provide opportunities for community members on and off the screen. We also promote South Asian lgbt+ cinema by organizing theatrical screenings in the UK and curating films for film festivals and corporate screenings.

Studio Dhanak – is an initiative of The Humsafar Trust which brings together enthusiastic, aspiring script writers/ filmmakers of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies together – nurture them, guide them and train them to write their stories, which can be converted into short films. Stories that present authentic personal feelings, stories that express real life experiences, stories that become agents of social change. We are delighted to be collaborators to help produce the 5 short films that have emerged from this initiative. More details can be found here.
The Rainbow Lens film contest – Is an initiative in collaboration with Pride Circle that runs a contest leading to production of short film around the theme of being queer in the work space. In 2024, “What’s in a Name?” a mockumentary written and directed by Saanvi S. (she/they) was the winning short that came out of this contest. The film is about the everyday challenges and triumphs of transgender employees in the workplace. The film uses humor to tackle bias and inspire change. Saanvi wrote the script to highlight a problem faced by trans people
