Studio Dhanak

Studio Dhanak – is an initiative of The Humsafar Trust which brings together enthusiastic, aspiring script writers/ filmmakers of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies together – nurture them, guide them and train them to write their stories, which can be converted into short films. Stories that present authentic personal feelings, stories that express real life experiences, stories that become agents of social change. We are delighted to be collaborators to help produce the 5 short films that have emerged from this initiative.

OAS (Dew Drops)

OAS (Dew Drops) is a story of two women who broke up sometime back but are still in love. One has moved on while the other can’t let go. They meet for their last conversation that sums up their dreams and expectations. In this night of introspection, will their relationship revive? Relationships may not last forever but love can and when love stays, it becomes beautiful, just like the dew drops – OAS.

When Miril downloads the dating app for the first time, he comes across a profile of Gandhar and swipes right. Receiving a match after ages, Gandhar, who is craving for a human touch, gets excited and the conversation turns out fruitful. In this excitement, Gandhar forgets to tell Miril, that he’s confined to a wheel chair, because of an unfortunate accident. After a few days of chatting Gandhar agrees to meet Miril. He is ready to face the fate and invites Miril to his place. How does Miril react to Gandhar’s condition? Do these desparate souls depart or touch each other?

Karan  is a transman, who recently had a gender affirmation surgery and something as trivial as going to the beach shirtless has been a dream and an act of liberation for him. Aditya, a cisman, has been a testimony to Karan’s struggle with gender dysphoria throughout college, often standing up more often than he had for himself. Will Karan muster the courage to take his shirt off on the beach? Will he achieve his dream and feel liberated?

Nabeel was dating a mysterious man. His friend Shane is very curious about Nabeel’s mysterious lover. She wants to somehow find out who is Nabeel dating. She secretly starts keeping tabs on Nabeel but misses meeting his boy friend each time. And when Shane finally manages to discover the identity of Nabeel’s mysterious partner, she’s in for a big shock. Who is this mysterious man? What does he have to do with Nabeel?
